Rewire service
The installation of new cabling, fuse boards, switches, sockets and lights in your home. I provide both full and partial rewires.
Do I need a rewire?
A rewire is typically advised every 30 years.
If you recently had an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) on your property, this will help indicate whether you need a rewire.
A rewire may also be a more cost-effective solution if you plan to have major construction work on your property.
How long does a rewire take?
A rewire typically takes between 1 to 3 weeks depending on the size and complexity of your needs.
What happens during a rewire?
5 stages of a rewire including the discussion stage, the first fix, the second fix and finally commissioning.

First we will go through what it is you want or need. This involves talking about the:
- Type, number and finish of sockets and switches (for example USB sockets, dimmer switches, chrome or brass finish)
- Lighting and socket placement
- Types of lighting (for example, spotlights or pendants)
- If you need data cabling (hardwired internet for your smart devices and/or wifi boosters)
- Any future provisions you might need (such as putting in additional cables for future extensions or a car charger unit)

Once you are happy we will move onto the first fix stage. This is where the work really begins. I will lift carpets and floorboards and start putting in the new cabling and socket back boxes.

The second fix involves fitting all the sockets, switches, lights and your new fuse board.

Commissioning is where I will test the new electrical installation to ensure it is safe and meets current regulations.

Once complete I will provide you with an electrical installation certificate. For a new rewire your certificate will last for 10 years.
